Lizzie Anne Sketch Challenge

It's my turn to host the sketch challenge at Lizzie Anne Designs this week! My little extra twist is to try and use polka dots on your card - so I used Perfect Polkas digi paper, combined with the new Merry Marine sixlets set.

Play along if you get a chance!

Hope all of my American friends are having a fun Memorial Day weekend - we are off to see my parents, ride bikes, and grill some food!

Bookmark Cards for VSN

I'm hosting a challenge today for VSN over on Splitcoaststampers, and this is my sample. What is my challenge, you ask? Well, you can find all of the deets about it here, but basically it is to create a bookmark or bookmark card. Sounds fun, huh? Feel free to come play along!

There are links to several tutorials in my post on SCS, so be sure to check out the link and get crafty! Can't wait to see everything you create!

Oh - I used the Vintage Verses sixlet set from Lizzie Anne Designs on this card - isn't it perfect?? And it is on sale this weekend - so go get it!

For Her Dad

It's blog hopping time with the ladies at InStyle Stamps! You should have come here from Cyndi's blog - wasn't her project great?

I can't believe another month has passed us by - and what a big month it has been for me personally! On May 11th, my second child was born - an adorable son to join my beautiful 4 year old daughter. So life in my house has been quite the whirlwind! Needless to say, craft time has been scarce. I sat down with my daughter yesterday to work on a project for this blog hop, and she wanted to help. I love crafty time with her!

The theme for the Hop is Father's Day, and she asked me to make her a card that she could give to her Dad. She picked the image (Chloe Wishing On a Star), the paper (Basic Grey Ambrosia), and the sentiment (it's computer generated, but those are her words!). All I did was put it together for her :)

I'm sure we'll make more Father's Day cards together, and I'm sure they'll be more masculine than this one. But in my mind, none could be sweeter than this one, because she was the driving force behind it. Ok, to be fair - she is working on a few all by herself, and they'll most likely be sweeter than mine, lol!

Now head on over to Kerry's blog to see what she has whipped up for you this month. And in case you missed any stops along the way, you can always go back to the beginning over at the InStyle Stamps blog. Have a great day - and don't forget to vote for you chance to win (deets on the InStyle blog!)!!

More Baby Announcements

Here are two more versions of baby announcements I made for the new little man! I've decided I just can't make 50 of the exact same card, although that would probably make my life easier.

I used an image and sentiment from Dream Big, the May 2010 monthly mix from Lizzie Anne Designs. I absolutely adore these little owls sitting on the moon! I kept the card simple, so I could make a few and not take lots of time - that is something I seem to always be short on these days!

After I tied the knot on this one, I realized I should have put it on the left side of the card, not the right. So on future ones, it'll be on the other side!

Another Color Challenge Card

I loved the colors for this month's InStyle Stamps color challenge SO much, I had to make another card!!! On this card I used Chloe Fairy, and since I loved the flowers on the wall of the inspiration piece, I had to replicate them on my 4.25" square notecard.

I found this amazing photo at the Decor8 blog, in a post full of other drool-worthy photos. I instantly fell in love with it - the simple clean lines, the striking shades of turquoise and orange - all of it!

Color Inspiration

Today is Color Challenge day over at InStyle Stamps! This month the design team members all used images from the "A Day in the Life" collection, which has beautiful, detailed images. I used Dance Girl on my card.

I found this amazing photo at the Decor8 blog, in a post full of other drool-worthy photos. I instantly fell in love with it - the simple clean lines, the striking shades of turquoise and orange - all of it! I thought it would make great color inspiration for the DT over at InStyle Stamps!

Happy Hump Day!

It's hump-day blog candy giveaway time over at InStyle Stamps! This month our theme is Father's Day, so I used this happy go lucky Milkman image to make a simple masculine card. I had to work hard to leave off all of the frilly embellishments though!

Be sure to stop by the InStyle Stamps blog to see what the other fabulous DT members have come up with for you, and for your chance to win some candy!

It'll Be a Slow Week :)

I just wanted to thank everyone in advance for understanding that this will be a slow week on my blog :) We've got BIG things happening at my house, and in our frenzy to get things ready, I haven't had as much craft time as I'd like. Plus, I've been marooned on the couch for quite a bit of time.

I'll post new projects soon, I promise!

Sketch Challenge with InStyle Stamps

It is sketch challenge time again over at InStyle Stamps! I chose to use this adorable Chloe image, called Chloe Moonbeam - I just love her! Ok, there isn't a Chloe image I don't love!! They are all so whimsical and fun :)

My dp is digi paper from InStyle Stamps as well - isn't it great? The pattern is actually available in several different colors, and I love all of them! Below is the sketch I drew for this month, in case you'd like to play along!! Don't forget - you get a month to play, and leave a link via Mr. Linky on the InStyle Stamps blog post! Can't wait to see what you do!

Christmas Moose

This week at Sew Many Cards we are featuring Christmas/Holiday cards! I usually try to make six cards a month, along with a group of my girlfriends, so that I'm all ready when the holidays roll around. But I must confess I'm woefully behind. I skipped March and April. I really need to get to work!

My image is MortyJoy - isn't he adorable?? I have a thing for moose - I guess I got it from living in Maine, lol.

This week's sponsor is Stitchy Stamps. Here's a little info about them:

Hi Everyone, my name is Stitchy and I create under the name Stitchy Stamps...I have been creating digital images for designers for almost a year now and try to learn something new everyday...I started out in paint shop pro about 8 years ago and started making digital scrap kits...then I was introduced to the wonderful world of paper crafts and card designing...like I said, learning new everyday, the rest is history...I can't draw enough to keep me satisfied anymore lol...Living in a small town in upstate New York, tucked away where cable doesn't even go...friends are far and few between...But being on the internet for the past 10 years, I have gathered quite a few from around the world...Just like I learn something new everyday, I also try to meet someone new every day too...Thank you Angela and Company for allowing me to sponsor for you...I am truly honored...

If you play along in our challenge this week, please link your creation to the post on the Sew Many Cards blog, so we can all come take a look. And you could win 3 free digi's of your choice from Stitchy Stamps!

Simple Sympathy

I had to make some sympathy cards last Sunday, which is never easy. They are even harder when it is a family member who has passed away. Last weekend my aunt lost her husband, my cousins lost their father, and I lost my uncle -- to cancer. He fought a brave battle all the way to the end, and now he is resting in peace.

I know there is nothing I can say to any of them that will make this mourning process any easier. So I chose to just make a simple card (I made 3 of the same card) using this gorgeous tree form the Dream Big set. I went with the tree because that's the kind of man my uncle was - strong, solid, tall, larger than life. I have the fondest memories of him from back when we were all kids.

Inside the card I used the With Sympathy sentiment, which says "May the love of those around you help you through the days ahead. With Sincerest Sympathy." I love that sentiment - as much as I can love a sympathy sentiment. But my aunt and cousins are close, and I know that they will find great strength in themselves, their spouses, and their kids in the coming weeks.

One Last Mother's Day Card

When I started addressing all of my Mother's Day cards this past Sunday I realized that I was somehow one card short. Instantly, I knew what I wanted to do - bright colors and a gorgeous flower from Lizzie Anne Designs. It's from their new sixlet set, Hello Friend, and everyone *has* to have it!

I love the way the black on this card makes the green and coral really pop. And I love the smaller flowers stamped in white -- so subtle and still so pretty! This card came together in no time, and it is now on it's way to my mother-in-law!

Little Pea Pods

I'm working on announcements for our new little man, while we wait (not so patiently at this point) for his arrival. I got a few done today - all using the same stamp, colors, dp, and ribbon. It was so easy to put these together! And when you are making a whole pile of cards, easy is good :)

My stamp is the pea pod from Great Expectations, a brand new sixlet set released by Lizzie Anne Designs last week. My sentiment is from Dream Big, which is the May 2010 Monthly Mix.

I kept all of the cards super simple - big batches work better (for me) that way. I'm pleased with all three of these prototypes for announcements! I don't know what the inside of the cards will look like. I do know they will have a picture, and all of his important "welcome to the world" stats. Other than that, I hope I'm thinking clearly when he comes home, so I can get these done!

You'll be seeing more of the baby announcements soon - try not to get sick of them!

Orange Blooms

I made this orange goodness for a mini VSN challenge, using one of the newly released sixlet sets from Lizzie Anne Designs. This set is called Brilliant Blooms. The challenge was to have at least one flower popped up from the card somehow - so I used a mega pop dot for mine.

My sentiment is from High Hellos - an oldie but goodie! It is such a useful set to have!

Sorry for short posting yet again, but I have lots of creating to do so I can get ahead of the game this month! I can't believe May is already here -- almost time for baby!!! (Ok, really, he could be here any day now!)
