My thoughts on books, life, mental illness, and all things that aren't specifically paper crafting are on the more of me tab...feel free to take a look!
I'm thrilled to be hosting the sketch challenge over at Splitcoaststampers this week. I drew the sketch with this fabulous dragonfly in mind - it's perfect for longer, narrow panels! I inked up the Dragonfly Vine from Stampendous in green on the cream panel, and then stamped it again in brown on another piece of card stock. I fussy cut the body of dragonfly and gave his wings a bit of dimension with my bone folder, then adhered it directly over the green image. I love that the wings come off of the panel a bit.
On my panel behind my main image panel, I chose to stick with the "white space" and just added a small scroll in the upper left corner. My patterned paper is a luscious french script from Canvas Corp. I finished off the card with a bit of brown ribbon - it's hard to see in the picture but the satin band in the middle has subtle polka dots on it. I also added a vintage cream button with a pealescent brad.
Check out my sketch:
I'd LOVE for you to play along this week! Use the keyword SC348 when you upload to SCS, and have fun!
Don't forget about the TWO chances I have right now for blog candy! Ending this tonight is my fun Celebration Candy (FOUR stamp sets up for grabs!), and ending on Saturday is my weekly Stampendous Candy. Head over to the blog posts to comment for a chance to win!
I made a quick card this morning for the CAS Challenge over on Splitcoaststampers. It's a color challenge this week - to use kraft and primary or bright colors. I needed a few masculine birthday cards this week, so I whipped up this one. I'm going to make a few more, to send this week and to have extras on hand!
The Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Polka Dot Silhouettes set, paired with Happy Birthday Sentiments, were perfect for a guy's birthday card. I know, I know - the flowers. But they are in boy-ish colors!
I also did double duty with this card, and used it for my weekly tip over on the Sweet 'n Sassy Connection. It's all about using score lines to accent your card.
Don't forget about the TWO chances I have right now for blog candy! Ending this Wednesday is my fun Celebration Candy (FOUR stamp sets up for grabs!), and ending on Saturday is my weekly Stampendous Candy. Head over to the blog posts to comment for a chance to win!
Earlier this week I was thrilled to get the chance to make a sample for the sketch challenge over at Splitcoaststampers. This is the card I made for it, and since I shared it in my gallery over there on Wednesday I've gotten lots of questions on how exactly I did it. Today I'll walk you through it, step by step!
Here are the basic supplies I used:
watercolor paper (from a pad purchased at Michael's)
water based ink (here, Tim Holtz Distress in three different colors)
heat tool
I cut my watercolor panels to the size I wanted them (based on the sketch I was provided with). Working with one panel at a time, I started by spritzing the panel with water, and then stamping two of the flower images from the Agapanthus Thank You set in green and blue. I used my heat tool to dry them gently (I heated from underneath), and once the panel was dry to the touch I inked up the flowers with stems and stamped them in black. I repeated this process for the other two panels, adding a sentiment from Happy Messages on the longer panel. Note: if you happen to not get the paper wet enough (and it is always better to spray less water than more), once you stamp your image you can spritz it again to give it a more watery appearance.
And that's it - it really is super easy and fun to create this look!! I encourage everyone to give it a shot :)
Now - for the fun part! Today I'm going to give you a chance to win a BRAD NEW stamp! So new, in fact, that the design team doesn't even have it yet - but I waaaaaant it so much! Take a look at this Cling Jumbo Peace Dove:
WOW - right??? Want to know how to win it?

It's the last day of Our Craft Lounge's week-long party with May Arts, and since it is Friday that means it is challenge day, too! This week's OCL Challenge is to create a CAS card with a polka-dot theme. And over at Splicoaststampers, the CAS challenge this week was to create a card based on the word "hot". So I've managed to accomplish THREE things on this card - woohoo! Two challenges and a celebration of fabby ribbon and fun stamps.
Runing Sick is such an amusing set - I love that thermometer on legs! I honestly struggle with red ribbon, because it makes such a old statement. I think this May Arts ribbon fits perfectly on a white card base, though!
Now, head over to the Our Craft Lounge blog to see the other amazing inspiration the designers are sharing today, and to see details about how you can enter to win a fabulous prize!

Did you know I host an Inspiration Challenge each Tuesday over in the Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps Member Company forums on Splitcoaststampers? This week I shared a living room that really made me swoon - the colors and textures are so fabulous. The picture inspired me to make this card using Tea Time, one of my favorite sets. I used yellow patterned paper with polka dots, continuing the theme from the couch. My other pattern has a hint of green, echoing those planters in the background. I accented the papers in black, to give it a nice contrast.
Take a look at the inspiration photo I shared:
Want to know how to play along?
Using the picture above, make a card, project, altered item, or anything else your mojo inspires you to make. It can be based on the colors, the textures, the theme...anything! I've pulled out a few colors, for those of you who love to use them as your jumping off point. I've also highlighted a few of the different textures and patterns in the picture, in case you'd rather use those as inspiration. Remember, there is no right or wrong, just be inspired and have fun! Upload your art to the gallery at SCS, and use the keyword SNSSIC02 (note: you do not have to use a Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps image to play along, but to be considered for the Sweet 'n Sassy Spotlight you do). While there is NO time limit to play along in this challenge, I'll post a new one each Tuesday morning!
So, come play!! Can't wait to see what you create :)

I'm sharing another fun card today using some Our Craft Lounge stamps and May Arts ribbon. This sentiment CRACKS me up, really. I love it! I kept the card super simple, because I might use it for a guy. But then again, maybe not! I colored Pat the Dog with Copics and just added some twisted burlap tied in a bow.

This is my second post today. Don't miss my On the Farm challenge card with Paper and Such!
Time for more fun with Our Craft Lounge and May Arts! Today I inked up Lil' Pea-Nut to make a fun birthday card, and paired her with some gorgeous sheer tinsel edge ribbon in pink. I adore the elephant holding on to those balloons, and the ribbon just gives it a fun feeling (I think!).
Pea-nut is colored with Copics, cut out, and popped up on foam tape, as are the balloons. I sponged the oval panel with both pink ink and a bit of light brown. I used an edge punch across the bottom of the card front, to echo the polka dots in the patterned paper.

This week Our Craft Lounge has teamed up with May Arts to bring you some amazing projects, and maybe some prizes too ;) Today I'm sharing another card I made with the fabulous Under Lock & Key set, paired with some lovely white lace from May Arts. It just so happens that last Friday's challenge at OCL was to use Lace, so this works perfectly!
I stamped my image in chalk ink, and while it was still wet I sponged the edged with Tim Holtz Distress Ink, smearing them on purpose. I dug out some old Basic Grey periphery patterned paper to go with th blues and greens.

My sweet friend Korin is the Featured Stamper over at Splitcoaststampers today, and I'm so excited for her! She has a gallery full of goodness - wow. I finally settled on this gorgeous CAS card to CASE. Basically, I just changed the set, lol. Not too imaginative, but I was so struck by the beauty of her card I didn't want to change much. And I'm so ready for fall, I cannot get enough of the new Autumn Leaves set.
I colored each of the leaves with Copics, and fussy cut them. The top leaf is stamped and colored directly on my card stock panel, the second is stamped on the panel and then I adhered a cut out leaf on top of it, the third is popped up on dimensionals. Below the sentiment, the first leaf is popped up, the second is cut out and adhered to the card stock.

Welcome to another Stampendous Saturday! I am having so much fun with this every week, and I so appreciate everyone that stops by! This week I have something pretty simple to share - I wouldn't call it a tutorial, or a tip...maybe more of a challenge? Don't panic - you don't have to play along. It's a personal challenge.
I've been on a mission lately to make more cards. Along with that I realized I needed to be quicker, simpler, cleaner, and still "pretty". Also, I wanted to figure out how to do that without making everything a white-based card. Don't get me wrong, I adore white based cards. ALOT. But my other card stock is sitting around, feeling neglected!
I cut my long panel, inked up my Cling Jumbo Rosehips stamp, and placed it a bit off center in each corner. I really like the way images look when they are stamped partially, and trail off the page. I pulled out my Happy Messages clear stamp set and added a sentiment to the lower middle of the panel. It is stamped in Encore Gold, and then I poured some Aged Gold Embossing Powder over it and heated from underneath. I also dragged the edges of the cream panel through the gold ink, to set it off a bit. And just like that - I ended up with a 6 card set that I can give to a friend!
Now, for the fun part...candy! Want to win this Cling Jumbo Rosehips set?
All you have to do is leave a comment on this post by Friday, August 26 at 11:00 PM EST. That's it! SO EASY!! I'll announce the winner on Saturday the 27th, with my next Stampendous Saturday post! Thanks for stopping by!
And I know you are wondering...the winner of last week's Merry Snowman set is:Jocelyn aka JoBear2 ! Congratulations! Send me an email with your contact info, and I'll pass it on to the shipping elves at Stampendous.
I played along with our latest itinerary over at the Desert Island Crafters this week, and just had to get out this fabulous Tres Chic dePorc stamp set from Our Craft Lounge!
I kept my card simple, so the glamour-pig could “hog” all the glory (hahahahahaha). The card base is actually 3 3/4″ x 5 1/2″. I stamped the leopard print background image directly onto the card base and then used my Scor-Buddy to add the lines. Next I stamped the pig image onto the label frame, and then twice more on two separate pieces of patterned paper. I fussy cut out the dress part (in orange) and adhered it to the sweet pig! I finished things off with two little half-pearls at the bottom – what pig would be seen without her pearls?
If you aren't familiar with the challenges over at Desert Island Crafters, you are totally missing out! Twice monthly (on the 1st and 15th) we share an itinerary, and the challenge is to pick at least three items off the list to incorporate on your card. It's so fun! For this card, I managed to squeeze on five things off of the list - dry embossing, paper piecing, pearls, Kraft card, and a vintage/old fashioned image (come on....relaxing on the chaise lounge is vintage, right?!). You should come play along!
Normally, I am not friends with Monday. But THIS week was an exception to my rule! Not only was it the big day for the fabulous August release from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps, it was the day the NEW forums opened up over on Splitcoaststampers! I'm SO excited that Sweet 'n Sassy is now a member company over there, and even more excited that my dear friend Korin asked me to be the new DT Coordinator for her team. What a total honor!
We had a really fun release party to cap off our launch day, and I hosted a sketch challenge to kick things off. You might recognize the sketch - I actually lifted it straight from the Autumn Leaves sample I made for this month's release. I made my sketch sample with the Flowers in Bloom set, and then realized it fit perfectly for this week's CAS challenge also, to use a partial image on your card.
If you'd like to play along with tis challenge and be entered to win your choice of stamp sets from this month's amazing release, just make a card using this sketch and upload it to your SCS gallery by 9:00 PM EST tonight (August 18th). Use the keyword SNSSAUG11RP01 (and you don't even have to use SNSS images!). Have fun and happy stamping!

Hello and welcome to the third and final day of the fabulous Blogs 4 Boobies event! Today I'm auctioning off this fantastic set of 5 notecards that are super simple and elegant. Now is the perfect time to pick up these sets, because through August 23rd Skipping Stones Design will donate $2 for every single stamp set sold to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
This set of 5 notecards comes with 5 matching envelopes, stamped with a beautiful butterfly from the Victorian Summer set. It's perfect to give as a gift, or keep for yourself (I'm always needing thank you notes). I am so in love with these CAS notecards, I made a bunch for myself, too!

Blogs 4 Boobies fundraiser!
This is day 1 of a 3 day blog bounce (hop) where EVERY CARD OR PROJECT is up for auction!
For today's hop I'm auctioning off a CAS-style set of 6 notecards I made using the Dandelion Dreams set from Skipping Stones Design. This set is perfect for making clean and simple cards! You will find all of the supplies I used for this project at the bottom of this post.
Each 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" notecard is lined inside with a card stock mat and a white card stock panel for writing. The set also includes 6 envelopes, stamped with the same image as the inside of the cards.
Although I've added twine to each card, when they are in their envelopes they are not really "lumpy", so they should not cost more than one stamp to mail (that's important to lots of people)!! These would be perfect to give as a gift, or to keep for yourself as correspondence.
Make sure to come back over the next two days and check out our other amazing designers, cards, and projects. And read through this whole post for instructions on how to place a bid!

It's Stampendous Saturday again, and today I have such a fun project to show you!! The fabulous crew over at Stampendous recently released yet another amazing video (it is embedded at the bottom of this post, to make it easy to watch); as soon as I saw it I knew I had to try it! The ever-fabby Fran demonstrates how to do a technique she has named the "Encrusted Jewel Technique". My 5 year-old daughter and I actually both made a card - we had a fabulous crafty day together. :)
Rather than walk you through the steps, I'll outline the basics in this post, and then I encourage you to watch the video below. Fran is a wonderful teacher, and it really does help to see what she is doing (it isn't hard, it's just easier to visualize!)
On my card, pictured above, I adhered the fused pearls to my patterned paper using a strip of Glue Arts ribbon adhesive. To cover up the adhesive that you could still see under the pearls, I dumped Crystal Glitter all over it and tapped off the excess. There are two stick pins (the cheapy ones, like you'd use to pin on a boutonnière) behind the little flower, peeking out on the right side. I hand-cut my sentiment, which is embossed with silver powder. Other than those details, I basically followed the steps Fran outlines in the video!
My daughter watched the video with more attention than she gives to a Saturday morning episode of The Avengers (one of her fav shows). Seriously - she was riveted. She followed the steps to the letter....I let her do it all herself, with the exception of actually using the heat gun. I am SO proud of her card, and so is she!!! She even patiently rolled her corners so it would look like mine. She spent what felt like forever picking out card stock and patterned paper, and then combed through my stash of Class A'Peel stickers for yet another eternity. She ended up choosing Snowflakes, Super Swirls, and Snowflake Sparklers.
We started by stamping our main image, the snowman from the Merry Snowman set, using Versamark ink. We both embossed him using Blue Magic Tinsel Embossing Powder - it's ep with glitter mixed in, so it really sparkles! I could not find my Versamark pen anywhere, so we opted to use a glue pen to add glitter to the stars on his wand and hat, as well as the frilly collar.
We continued with the glitter-fest by adding glass glitters to the baubles at the base of the snowman. We each stamped the swirl from the cling jumbo Romantic Border set in Encore Silver ink, and then chose two different embossing powders to put on top (like Fran did, in the video - we each embossed a small patch of the swirl, but not the whole thing). I stuck with silver, my daughter got bold and used the shabby blue enamel in keeping with her blue-themed card.
Here's where she and I differed a bit, and I have to say I ended up really liking what she did (keep in mind she's FIVE, lol - and I'm jealous of her crafting skills). She sprinkled some Clear Deep Impressions powder along the base of her snowman, and then mixed in Bronzed Mica Fragments, Shaved Ice, and some Chunky White embossing enamel. You see, FRAN says to use white Deep Impressions powder, and since I don't have any in that color I just used chunky white enamel. But my darling daughter paid better attention than I did, and figured it would look better to mix in some clear with all the other ones...and she was right. :)
Ok, now take a look at the whole video, so you can see the steps we followed! But come right back, because I'm giving away the Merry Magical Snowman set, and you don't want to miss it!
Now, for the fun part...candy! Want to win this Merry Snowman set? (Note: if you go to the Stampendous website, my daughter's sample is on there - I'm SO SO SO proud!!!)
