Today I'm playing along with some of my Stampendous teammates, and showcasing a handmade gift. Who doesn't love to receive something made by hand, with love? Gifts can be for any occasion - holidays, birthdays, just because, hostess gifts, teacher gifts....you get the idea. My project today is a recycled Tazo Tea Tin that I've had in my "to be altered" stash forever. It may look familiar to you - i was completely inspired by my Wobbly Snow Bird card I made recently.
I started by cutting a piece of Kraft card stock to fit the tin (5" x 8 1/2"). I stamped the Christmas Words background on it twice using distress ink, and then used the same color ink to sponge around the edges. Next I stamped the Snow Bird image directly on to the Kraft card stock with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I also stamped just the bird part of the image again, on a separate pice of white card stock.
I colored both images with my Spectrum Noir markers. Here is a closer look at what I used:
Bird: TN5. TN3, TN2, EB1, EB2, GB8
Branch: EB7, BG4
Berries: CR6, CR7, CR8
Outline/Shading: BG3, BG2
After coloring, I used good old Liquid Applique on the areas where I wanted snow to be; I sped up the drying process with my heat tool. I adhered my kraft base to the tin with i {stick} papers tape, and then added the fussy cut bird on top with foam tape. And just like that, in about 20 minutes, I had a handmade gift tin! I might fill it with tea, or maybe cookies. I'm not sure yet. For now, I like looking at it on my desk!
You can snag the stamps, ink, and sticky tape I used over at i {heart} papers. They're carrying a great selection of Stampendous goodies, with more on the way!
Be sure you check out the gorgeous handmade gifts my teammates are showing off today - you will love the inspiration!
