Stampendous Saturday: Missing You

Have you checked out the challenge with the Stampendous team this month?  Each Saturday in March, we'll be challenging ourselves (and you!) to make a shaped card or project - something other than the traditional square or rectangular card. Doesn't that sound like fun?  Today I'm sharing the last shaped card I've made for this month's challenge - how did March go by so fast?  I colored up the sweet little Zebra Baby and added him to an oval card.  I thought he looked like he was missing a playmate, so I added a sentiment from the Happy Messages set (seriously....the most versatile and useful sentiment set EVER).

Ready to see even more shaped inspiration from my teammates? Here is a list of the Stampendous team members and special friends playing along today:

We want YOU to play along with us!  Just add your direct link to your shaped card or project to the linky tool below my signature (or on the Stampendous blog) no later than April 5, 2012 at 11:00 PM EST.  You do not have to use Stampendous products to play along, but we sure love it when you do!  And as an extra incentive for playing, one lucky person (drawn at random from all the entries) will receive this gorgeous Cling Jumbo Hollyhock Stamp Set:

Due to shipping restrictions, the winner must have a US address.  We hope you get a chance to play along with us - happy crafting!

Pretty Butterflies

Korin is hosting the sketch challenge over on Splitcoaststampers this week, and I love that her sketch lends itself so well for creating a CAS card.  I inked up my Butterfly Flourish stamp set for the focal panel.  I stamped it again in a different color, fussy cut the butterflies, colored them, and popped them up slightly (see picture below for more detail on that).  My sentiment comes from the Seeing Spots set.

All of my card stock on this is white - I love white on white cards.  I ended up sponging a bit much Wild Honey ink on that large middle panel, but I really like the way it turned out.  It sets off the butterfly panel so well!

Head over to Splitcoaststampers and play along with the sketch this week!

Garden Tea Time

Gourmet Rubber Stamps is sharing the newest Diner's Club set today.  It's called Garden Tea Time, and I am completely in love with it!  Full of lovely tea- and garden-themed  images,  it is perfect for spring (or any occasion where tea is called for, which in my world is every day!).  I made two cards to celebrate the release today; the first is a CAS card that made me feel all spring-y, with green dandelions and yellow gingham fabric tape.

My second card is all about tea time.  The intricate doily image paired so well with the patterned paper, and I love the teapot so much!  Take a look at the entire Garden Tea Time set:

Amore Frame

I made this card awhile ago, and it has been sitting in the draft queue patiently waiting its turn on the blog :)  It's a fairly simple card, and I love the striking color combo.  The large frame in the Amore Frame clear stamp set from Stampendous is pretty perfect for creating a great focal image on cards! Here's how I did it:

  • Cut card base to 6" square; cut black card stock panel to 5" square and gently tear bottom 1/2" or so off.
  • Stamp large frame in silver ink, emboss using detail silver embossing powder.  Repeat process for swirl image in each lower corner.
  • Smear Versamark ink along torn bottom edge (from ink pad directly to card stock). Apply Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel, heat from below until melted.
  • Randomly sprinkle Shabby White Embossing Enamel on black card stock, heat from below until melted.
  • Stamp sentiment with Versamark ink inside frame; cover with Baby Blue embossing powder and heat set from underneath.
  • Attach black card stock to card base using foam tape or other dimensional adhesive.
That's it!! Quick and easy, with loads of texture!

Supplies:
Stamps: Amore Frame (Stampendous)
Card Stock: Patina, Black (Bazzill)
Ink: Versamark, Encore Silver
Accessories: Detail Silver Embossing Powder, Shabby Blue Embossing Enamel, Shabby White Embossing Enamel, Baby Blue Embossing Powder
Tools: heat gun

Popping With Color

I played along with the challenge over at i {heart} papers this month, which was to make a project inspired by one of their DT members (it is a FAB hop....you should check it out!).  After looking at all of the amazing eye candy they shared, I settled on Tracy's really cheerful card.  i {heart} papers recently started carrying cling rubber from Gourmet Rubber Stamps, so I inked up one of my all-time favorite stamps, the Popcorn Box and its coordinating sentiment.  (note - those links will take you to the Gourmet Rubber Stamps site, where the stamps are available in both cling rubber and wood-mounted....options are a good thing!)

I loved how simple yet totally bright and happy Tracy's original card was.  I stuck with the Kraft, and changed the colors slightly (I had to use what I had on hand!).  Instead of a plain circle behind my popcorn boxes, I opted for a scalloped one, because it reminded me of popcorn.  And the paper really is greener than it looks in the picture!

Thanks again to Kate and all the i{h}p DT ladies for the fantastic inspiration and fun challenge!

Catching a Smile

This week's challenge with the Pixies is a really fun one!  We're all making cards using our favorite things, and challenging you to do the same!  This was actually kind of hard for me - I am no good at picking favorites, because I sort of love everything.  I started making one card with a certain idea in mind, and it went in a whole different direction and ended up working better for a challenge that is coming soon with the Pixies.

This card is my second attempt at showcasing a few of my most favorite things.  I used the darling Catching a Smile image and colored her up in shades of pink, which I love. Here's a few other favorites on this card:

  • white space....lots of white space
  • black card stock (but just a smidge, to help the paper pop)
  • a CAS (clean and simple) design
  • polka dots
  • more pink
  • Tuxedo Black ink by Memento (soooooo perfect)
  • lacey oval Nestabilities
  • lace tape (from Love My Tapes)
  • twine
Be sure to head over to the Pixie Dust Studio Challenge Blog to see what the other Pixies love, and for all the details on how to play along!

Two Cards In One!

This week it is Holly's turn to host the sketch challenge over on Splitcoaststampers, and she shared a great one.  I used it as my jumping off point to make a card for several challenges at Splitcoast!  I started with the this week's Hump Day challenge over in the SNSS Member Company Forums, which is hosted by Bridget this week.  She challenged us to use red and aqua on our cards.  Ok, ok...mine is a little blue-er than aqua, but I think it still counts!

I created the background panel using the Vintage Postcard set (it's back in stock, so go get yours today!!) and hand stitched it to my patterned paper panels.  Before doing that, I added some script from the Friendship Script set, and sponged the edges of the whole Kraft panel.   That leads me to the next challenge I participated in.....the "more is more" fan club challenge for this month.  The version shown above is the minimal version of my card.

The stepped up version, shown above, is the one that fits Holly's sketch for this week; I turned the sketch on its side.  I added lace tape from Love My Tapes and a sentiment from the True Friend set.  It also works with the central theme for the Fan Club challenges (because I hand stitched on it) and the Word Play fan club challenge.  To play along with this one you have to incorporate things on your project that have letters that spell the word SEWN. So....S (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps), E (Echo Park paper), W (White Lace), and N(new stamps).  Not bad, huh?  That is FIVE challenges, all from one (well, sort of two I guess) card!

You should make some time to play along - you'll have tons of fun!

Supplies (plain version):
Stamps: Vintage Postcard, Friendship Script (Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps)
Card Stock: Kraft (Neenah)

Plume Portrait...a GIVEAWAY!

I'll admit it - I really love the color orange.  I didn't used to; it sort of crept up on me in the past year or so.  And now, I simply cannot get enough of it in every shade I can find!  I created another monochromatic card, inspired by the Free For All challenge last Friday over on Splitcoaststampers (and yes, the other one was pretty darn orange too!).  Today's card features the Plume Portrait cling rubber stamp from Stampendous, paired with stamps from the Corset Ladies clear stamp set.  I also used MORE of the fantastic lace tape and some fabric tape that I won from Love My Tapes.  Yes, I am kind of obsessed with it.  I sponged some distress ink on the lace before adding it to my card, to make it appear aged.

Do you want a chance to win this Plume Portrait stamp?  Of course you do!!  Paper Crafts Magazine is hosting a giveaway on their Facebook page right now, and three lucky winners will win this fantastic stamp!  Head over to the Paper Crafts Magazine Facebook page for all the details!

Love and Kisses

Welcome to Tuesday!  This week already feels like it is flying by.  I'm sharing a sweet card with an image from By LORi Designs this morning.  I have such a thing for these sweet little Puddle Jumpers!  This one is called Ella Two,  and I paired her with some yummy pink papers from Basic Grey's Kissing Booth collection.  I started out using this week's sketch over at the Sweet Stop Sketch blog, but I sort of went astray and moved the area where there is supposed to be text (actually, I didn't even add a sentiment - just put some fun hearts!).

I also used some of the gorgeous lace tape I won recently from Love My Tapes.....ohmygosh I am in love. Seriously - I cannot overstate how awesome this stuff is!!!  If you don't have any yet, go get some.  Quickly!!!

Anyone for Appetizers?

Gourmet Rubber Stamps is introducing a new line to their stamp collection today...Appetizers!  Small sets featuring four images, they will retail for $8.99.  I'm sharing peeks of two new Appetizer sets.  The first, pictured above, uses the Spring Botanicals set.  I went with a CAS card; I added some soft sponging inside the script frame and tied a ribbon around the top.

My second card features two images from the Mother Knows Best set.  I stamped the frame in grey ink and then added the mother in children in black ink.  Fused pearls and pom-pom ribbon, paired with Echo Park's Victoria Garden paper, really helped girlie the card up!

Head over to the Gourmet Rubber Stamps blog for more information about the new Appetizers sets.  And to see what my teammates have whipped up with them, check out their blogs:
