Wanted: Halloween Sprite

We're wrapping up the New Release Celebration week with Stampendous today - it's been such a fun week showing off the newest goodies!  The whole team is coming together today to show off some amazing inspiration...and chances to win three prize packs from Stampendous!

I'm sharing this fun project I made with Halloween Sprite.  Isn't she darling?  Here's a closer look at how I put the whole thing together:
  • Paint easel and plaque with acrylic paint; set aside to dry.  Once dry, adhere cut piece of cork directly to plaque.
  • Stamp Halloween Sprite image on card stock; apply distress ink to edges with a sponge. Spritz the top with water, roll into scroll shape (heat set for quicker drying). Apply Aged Ochre enamel to scroll using Versamark pen, heat set from underneath. Adhere to cork panel on a tilt.
  • Stamp Halloween Sprite image on separate piece of cardstock; color as desired with alcohol markers (see supply list at end of post for complete list of markers used). Fussy cut and adhere using foam tape.
To celebrate my excitement over the new release goodies, I'll be giving away a different Stampendous stamp every day I share a New Release post this week (so comment on each New Release Week post, for even more chances to win)!  All you have to do is comment on the post to win - I'll announce the winners for each post on Tuesday, July 31 (so please comment by Monday, July 30 at 6:00 PM EST).  Today, I'm giving away a fantastic pack of brand new Christmas sentiments.  Included are Glory to God, First Christmas, Scripty Blessings, Seek Him, and Jesus Season: (all shown below, clockwise beginning top left)

Live in the Moment

Crafter's Companion released two great new sets designed by Sheena Douglass this week!   I used the Silhouette Grasses to make my card today.  I think the sentiment is SO gorgeous, and a great thing to be reminded of.  I paired with with the lovely flowers....and just in case you thought it wasn't possible to color on silhouette image, I decided to show you that you can!

I often hear people say they can't color, or they are afraid to.  I promise - anyone can color!  Just start small, like I did on this card.  I stamped my image on Ultra Smooth White card stock and added Distress Ink around the edges.  I then used my Spectrum Noir markers to outline around the edges of the words (CR4), the stems (DG2), and to color right on top of the flowers (GG1). When I was all finished, I added some Yellow Stickles to the tips of the flowers, for sparkle.  I also added three small dots of Cotton Candy Stickles in the left corner of the image.

See, anyone can color - even on solid images!  Give it a try today :) And as a reminder - there is still time to play along in this month's Crafter's Companion USA Challenge!  The challenge this month is to create a card or project with any Crafter's Companion stamp - and you could win a $30 gift certificate to the store!  You should definitely play along!!

Merry & Magical

How about some holiday fun with the Stampendous team today?   I combined the new Angel Kiddo and the cling jumbo Snow stamp with the previously released Merry Magical cling jumbo. Here's a closer look at how I put the card together:
  • Cut card base from card base; cut brown and pink mats for it.
  • Stamp large snowflake using Versamark ink in upper right corner of pink mat. Apply Shabby Pink Embossing Enamel, heat set from underneath. Sponge edges of panel with distress ink.
  • Stamp snowflakes images in various inks on smaller cream panel; stamp sentiment from Merry Magical set across the panel. Sponge inks on as desired. Sprinkle embossing enamel on; heat set from underneath. Adhere to blue card stock mat.
  • Cut thin strip of brown card stock and cream mat. Apply distress ink to edges with sponge. Randomly sprinkle Shabby Pink Enamel on; heat set from underneath. Using glue pen, apply Rose Color Fragments where desired.
  • Stamp Angel Kiddo image on separate card stock, color as desired and fussy cut.  Using glue pen, add Silver Crushed Glass Glitter to bottom of dress and Steel Blue Crushed Glass Glitter to her crown..  Also apply glue to bear and add Cottonball White fun flock
  • Adhere all pieces to card base.

Pumpkins, Pumpkins, Everywhere!

Ready to get back to the New Release festivities with Stampendous?   I have another fun Halloween project to share today, using three different new images.  I colored up the Picket Pumpkin image as a fun backdrop for the adorable Punkin Kitty girl.  And the Autumn Words background stamp was the perfect finishing touch!  I'm blogging about how to color pumpkins over on the Spectrum Noir blog today, so I encourage you to go take a look at how I colored each one.

Interested in how I put the card together?
  • Cut card base from card stock, in square shape.
  • Cut two panels (one from purple card stock, one from orange) and two white panels to fit on them.
  • Stamp Autumn Words on one white panel using Sepia ink; color over entire panel with alcohol markers as desired. Attach to card base on a tilt; tie ribbon around both pieces. Stamp Picket Pumpkins image on the other white panel, color as desired with alcohol markers.
  • Attach to card base on a tilt (over top of ribbon).
  • Stamp Punkin Kitty image on separate white card stock, color as desired; fussy cut.
  • Attach to card base using foam tape for dimension.
Today, I'm giving away this fabulous Rose Corset stamp:

Hello Hello

It is Design Team Challenge time with the Gourmet Rubber Stamps team!  This month we were challenged to find a special piece of home decor and let it inspire our card.  Here is the pillow I chose:

By itself, it's just a pillow from Pier 1 with an awesome pattern.  But to me it is so much more.  It belonged to my grandmother, and I love dearly.  When I was wandering around looking for inspiration I spotted these pillows an just knew I had to ink up the bird from Swingin' Spring, a recent Diner's Set.

The pattern on my Stella Rose paper was busy, so I tried to keep everything else fairly simple.  I stamped and fussy cut the birds twice (because there are two on the pillow).  I added some lace tape, and couldn't resist covering the birds with Cotton Candy and Icicle Stickles.  Three small dots of White Opal Liquid Pearls are in the upper corner, as well. You can pick up all of these goodies over at i {heart} papers - including the stamps!  More My Mind's Eye paper is on the way!

Check out my teammates' blogs to see how what inspired them for this challenge:

Supplies:
Stamps: Swingin' Spring (Gourmet Rubber Stamps)
Card Stock: Candlelight Swiss Dot (Bazzill); Kraft (Canvas Corp)
Patterned Paper: Stella Rose (My Mind's Eye)
Ink: Memento Espresso Truffle (Tsukineko)

Stampendous New Release Week: Quoth the Raven

I'm continuing the fun for this week's Stampendous New Release Celebration with a Halloween candle and coaster today.  This project uses several newly released products; the candle it self features the cling rubber Raven background stamp.  To create the candle, here is what I did:
  • Stamp Raven background on tissue paper.
  • Tear around image, apply ink as desired using sponge.
  • To apply image to candle: Place image on candle, wrap wax paper around and hold tightly. Heat gently with heat tool until wax melts slightly, adhering tissue paper to candle. Slowly peel off wax paper. (want to see a quick tutorial?)

Here is a better look at the coaster, with the new Trick or Treat Color Fragments and the cling rubber Autumn Words on it.  Making the coaster was easy - here's how:
  • Stamp Autumn Words on coaster.
  • Add ink directly from ink pad to edges; apply to coaster surface with a sponge.
  • Spray Goosebumps texture spray onto coaster surface, sprinkle on color fragments and allow to dry.
Today, I'm giving away this fun cling rubber Skeleton Poem:

Christmas in July With Spectrum Noir!

A few members of the Spectrum Noir team have gotten together to celebrate Christmas in July!  We have an inspiration-filled blog hop today, along with a few great prizes!  If you have arrived here from Linda Hill's blog, you are in the right place.  If not, pop over to the Spectrum Noir blog so you don't miss a thing!

I'm sharing a fun card today with a newly-released stamp called Forest Santa, from Stampendous.  I love Santa stamps and figures, so I was particularly excited to color this one up!  Here is a breakdown of the markers I used on this card:

Santa's coat: CR8, DR1, CR6, CR7 (edges: IG2, IG1)
Tree & holly: JG7, JG5, JG4
Santa's body/midsection: TN3, TN2, TN1
Toy sack: TB8, TN7, TN6
Gloves and figurine base: IG8, IG6, IG4
Skin: FS9, FS4, FS2, CR3

I attempted to make this be reminiscent of the carved wooden figurines I have, so when I colored the middle part I used went over the darkest parts of the TN3 with extra TN1, in a circular motion.  Interested in a bit more detail on how I put the whole card together?

  • Cut square card stock base, square read panel, large square white panel.
  • Randomly stamp snowflakes on white card stock in both green ink and Versamark. Pour Aged Scarlet enamel on, heat set from underneath. Apply distress ink to edges as desired. Attach to red panel; adhere both to card base. Tie ribbon around in an off-centered knot.
  • Die cut long rectangles; stamp Forest Santa image and color as desired. Add distress ink to edges with a sponge. Using glue pen, cover beard, fur edges of coat and hat; apply fun flock. Also using glue pen, cover bottom of die cut panel and apply shaved ice.
  • Adhere Forest Santa panel using foam tape on a tilt. Attach snowflake die cuts and buttons as desired.

We hope you've been checking out the Spectrum Noir blog - it is full of great tutorials, techniques, and other projects from our design team.  If you haven't been over there, go take a look!  Before we get to the rest of the hop today, let's have a little fun.  How about a prize?  Spectrum Noir is going to award one lucky winner two sets of six markers, a pack of Crafter's Companion Ultra Smooth Premium White card stock (perfect for coloring!), and an adorable stamped called All Wrapped Up, from the new Mulberry Wood line.

Entering to win is easy.  Leave a comment on the Spectrum Noir Blog Hop Post telling us your favorite Spectrum Noir color combination you saw while hopping with us this week (please comment no later than Friday, July 27 at 6:00 PM GMT).  A random winner will be drawn using random.org and posted on the Spectrum Noir blog on Saturday, July 28, 2012, so be sure to check back with us to see if you have won!  The lucky winner will have one week to claim their prize or a second winner will be chosen.

Busy Doing Nothing

I have another card using a stamp I got over at Crafter's Companion to share! I made this with one of my favorite Sheena Douglass stamps, Busy Doing Nothing.  Isn't that little girl absolutely darling?  She reminds me of my daughter (although, mine has honey-blonde hair). The image was stamped onto Ultra Smooth White card stock using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I colored everything with Spectrum Noir markers.  Here's a closer look at what I used:

Yellows: GB5, CT4, CT3, CT2, CT1
Pinks: CR5, CR4, CR3
Browns: DR7, TB8, TN7
Skin: FS9, FS4, FS3
Outline: GG1
Flower/Grass: DG4, DG3, DG2, DG1, GG1

I added in stamps from two of the Flower Fairies stamp sets - the sentiment and butterfly closest to it are from Rose Bay Willow Herb, and the larger butterfly is from the Canterbury Bell set. Both butterflies have Stickles on them. Cotton Candy for the smaller butterfly and Yellow for the larger.  I also used the Yellow Stickles to make three small circles in the upper corner of the card.

I had so much fun coloring this card!  And as a reminder - there is still time to play along in this month's Crafter's Companion USA Challenge!  The challenge this month is to create a card or project with any Crafter's Companion stamp - and you could win a $30 gift certificate to the store!  You should definitely play along!!

Supplies:

A Little Pop of Red

Sometimes just a little bit of color can make a dramatic statement, especially when that color is red!  I colored up the lovely Poppies and Daisies recently and loved the way it turned out so much, I decided to make the backdrop for it just black and white, and let the reds really shine.

I began by inking up the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black, and stamping on Ultra Smooth White card stock.  Here is a breakdown of the Spectrum Noir markers I used:

Reds: CR8, DR1, CR6, CR7
Greens: DG4, CG4, DG2, CG2

I really, really love the range of reds in the Spectrum Noir markers.  So many possibilities for adding depth to projects!  They definitely add some "wow" to things.

Here's my little crafty tip for today: I am an obsessively neat crafter.  I cannot stand it when my table is covered in tools, and I am always trying to keep things away from my young kids!  I've just started using the Ultimate Crafter's Companion Tool for cutting and scoring, and it works SO well!!!  And it all folds back up an stores away quickly, so the little hands that are always roaming around while I craft don't snatch anything they shouldn't.  Every crafter should have one of these tools - seriously!  I can't wait to use more of the features it offers :)

Supplies:
Stamps: Poppies and Daisies (Crafter's Companion)
Card Stock: Red (Bazzill); Black (Recollections); Ultra Smooth White (Crafter's Companion)
Patterned Paper: Enchanted (Bo Bunny)
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black (Tsukineko)
Coloring Medium: Spectrum Noir
Accessories: Ribbon (May Arts)
Tools: Classic and Scalloped Long Rectangles (Spellbinders)
